Best Attractions in Anaheim
While practically everyone is familiar with the Disney Resort, the Happiest Place on Earth is not the only attraction worth visiting in Anaheim. So be sure to save some time once you’ve had your fill of thriller rides and cotton candy to stop by several of these other fabulous attractions.
• Adventure City – This popular family attraction is a cross between an interactive children’s museum and a local carnival. While not especially large or fancy, the park is a particular favorite of small children, and the free parking and affordability make it a hit with parents as well.
• Flight Deck Air Combat Center – Have you always dreamed of flying a fighter jet but never quite found the time to complete the training? Well, if you at least 11 years old you can make your dream come true, piloting a military jet through take offs and landings, flight combat, and aerial maneuvers. But be careful – the enemy just may shoot you down! Luckily, you are able to experience all this from the safety of a realistic flight simulator and “do overs” are entirely allowable.
• Angel Stadium of Anaheim – Visit the home of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. While open to the public for touring off season, during the season the field comes alive with players. Special deals and promotions which cater to families make taking in a game extremely affordable.
• The Honda Center – Home to the Anaheim Ducks NHL team, this large sports and entertainment arena hosts not only action packed hockey matches but just because the ice disappears during the off season doesn’t mean the entertainment stops. Catch performances by top music stars and bands, the Harlem Globe Trotters, or the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus.
• Knott’s Berry Farm – Once a boysenberry Farm, Mrs. Knott began serving dinners which, along with her jams and fresh berries, became so popular, the family built a small ghost town to entertain waiting guests. Over the years the family added to the attractions and currently it has become a full theme park, while retaining its old west charm. Next to the amusement park is a water park (separate fee required).
• Pirates Dinner Adventure – Satisfy the pirate in you, by boarding one of the 6 ships clustered around a 18th Century Spanish Galleon in a large lagoon, all of which serves as a stage on which a complete pirate adventure plays out. Choose to be one of the 150 guests that participate in the excitement or just sit back and watch while you enjoy your hearty dinner.
While not intended to be an exhaustive list of attractions in the Anaheim area, the suggestions included here provide a representative sampling of the diverse options available in this fun filled city. Given the variety of Anaheim hotels available, your visit is sure to be not only affordable, but also memorable.
